Volunteer Bushfire Brigades
Volunteer Bushfire Brigades play a vital role in emergency services across our City, operating under the Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2021. They respond to incidents outside the Gazetted Fire District.
Volunteers often say it's a rewarding way to connect with others, gain new skills, and strengthen community resilience.
Interested in giving back? Consider joining one of our eight Volunteer Bushfire Brigades or the State Emergency Services listed below.

Volunteer Fire Control Officers
The following people are appointed as City of Greater Geraldton Volunteer Bush Fire Control Officers (FCOs) under the Bush Fires Act 1954, Part IV Division 1 Section 38.

State Emergency Service
When a natural disaster strikes – a storm, cyclone, earthquake, or flood – the WA State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers can be found helping communities and getting them back on their feet.
The SES provides a wide range of services to help communities cope with the effects of natural disasters, from emergency repairs on buildings to restoration of essential services and the ferrying of cargo and passengers across flood waters.
If you would like to volunteer for the SES give the local manager a call.
