Artists in Western Australia are invited to submit their entries as the prestigious Mid West Art Prize returns for its ninth year.
Held biennially, the Prize coordinated by the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) showcases diversity, quality and innovation.
91黑料网 Mayor Jerry Clune said the Mid West Art Prize had earned itself a notable reputation amongst WA artists.
“This event provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the City’s support for the arts,” he said.
“We are extremely proud to welcome the Prize back as another prestigious opportunity for our local creatives to display their new works alongside artists selected from around the state.
“I extend my gratitude to the generous sponsors who have come on board, and I am excited to announce two new categories this year, the Melissa Price MP Packer’s Prize and the Regional Arts WA Emerging Artist Award.”
The Melissa Price MP Packer’s Prize will be selected by exhibition installers without any knowledge of other prize winners and the Regional Arts WA Emerging Artist Award will grant a fellowship opportunity to an early-career artist.
The Mid West Art Prize 2025 categories are as follows:
- Aboriginal Award
- Emerging Artist Award
- Mid West Award
- Overall Award (acquisitive)
- Packer’s Prize
- People’s Choice Award
- Youth Award
Entries open at 10am on Monday 7 July and close at 4pm on Monday 1 September.
All judging is external to the City and takes place over two stages by industry professionals from WA.
The Exhibition Opening Night will be held at GRAG on Saturday 22 November 2025, featuring a light projection show, food trucks and bar, and Perth-based indie rock band King Ibis as the headline act.
The Mid West Art Prize aligns with the Community pillar of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and reflects the organisation’s commitment to a place where people have access to, engage in and celebrate arts.
